Capture a video screen shot as a project aid

Ive been quiet for a long time on this forum but have been active in the shop. Having met Sam Maloof 6 months before his passing and wanting to replicate his iconic rocker since first seeing it in FWW issue #42 back in 1983, I am making it now using Charles Brocks instructions including dvd. The video is full of critical information that is not covered in Brocks manual (understandably so) and being a senior my memory is often lacking.

Im using Cyberlink Power DVD to view the dvd on my computer. It has a screen capture function that is perfect for capturing the image as a jpeg. I keep these images in a folder and can either print them as 46 photos or download the entire folder on my ITouch to have with me in the shop. As you proceed through the video and see a point you must remember, simply hit the pause button and then the capture button. Before doing this I set up a folder in My Pictures Rocker Photos where these captured screens are filed.

Needless to say this has been a boon to my progress with the chair and has application for any project which is based in any way on a video. It has certainly saved me from creating more waste wood than normal.
