The Real Estate Corner: Daytime Host Ellen DeGeneres Opens Doors to Her Beverly Hills Home

We are now on our second to last blog segment premiere! Real estate is a pretty big deal in the design industry as it pairs interior design with architecture. In our new segment The Real Estate Corner, we will take a look at some amazing interiors across the globe. Whether it’s an estate on a vineyard or celebrity home, this segment will highlight some great real estate. Let’s get started.

Funny woman Ellen DeGeneres keeps the good times rolling with her humor and charm. Her daytime talk show, ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ has become television gold winning tons of Daytime Emmys in addition to other awards. With all of her success, not too many people know she enjoys some good real estate. In the new issue of Architectural Digest (on newsstands now), Ellen opens up about her interest in design and real estate. “We never had a house when I was growing up,” reveals Ellen. “We always rented. But my father would dream, and we used to look at houses all the time.” “The first thing I did when I made money was buy a house.” That house would soon turn into several, but for now, we will focus on her and wife Portia De Rossi’s home in Beverly Hills.

The home (built by architects Buff & Hensman) boasts a relaxed atmosphere full of airy neutrals and timeless furnishings. An array of centuries comes together as 18th and 19th century tables perfectly partner with contemporary pieces. Even the wall décor does a nice job of mixing modernity with vintage sophistication.

For such a woman about jokes and comedy, her home possesses an aura of maturity. Take a little photo tour around her home and let us know what you think. To see more, visit Architectural Digest online or pick up a copy of the magazine today.
